The Disabled Veterans National Foundation (http://www.dvnf.org), a non-profit veterans service organization that focuses on helping men and women who serve and return home wounded or sick after defending our safety and our freedom, is sending a shipment of goods worth approximately $112,000 to a Chicago Stand Down event for homeless veterans that will take place on June 15th and 16th. The goods will include thousands of emergency blankets and bottles of water, various assortments of men's and women's clothing, hundreds of boxes of cereal, as well as toothpaste and sunscreen.
"DVNF is thrilled to be able to lend a hand in assisting the veterans in Chicago," said Raegan Rivers, Chief Administrative Officer of DVNF. "It is a sobering reality that around 30% of Chicago's homeless are veterans. With such a vast population of veterans in this area, we hope that these particular goods will be a welcome relief."
The 2-day event is expecting more than 800 veterans. It women's coats is being hosted by the Chicago Veterans Economic Development Council.
